TIMOTHY M. ENGEL was born in Winner, South Dakota, on March 11, 1961, and was raised in the Winner area. He attended the University of South Dakota for both undergraduate and graduate degrees, receiving a Bachelor's Degree, Cum Laude, in 1982 and a Juris Doctor in 1985. Mr. Engel is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, was a member of the Sterling Honor Society in law school, and was editor-in-chief of the South Dakota Law Review, 1984-85. He was admitted to the Bar in 1985 in South Dakota and was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota in 1986. Mr. Engel served as law clerk to the Honorable Donald J. Porter, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota from 1985 to 1986. Mr. Engel is a member of the State Bar of South Dakota and the American Bar Association. He has served on the Law School Committee of the State Bar and on the Public Information Committee of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association.
